We have been outdoor guides and adventure tourism business owners in Marlborough since 1999 and over the past 20+ years have welcomed thousands of active travellers to our beautiful backyard – the Marlborough Sounds and Queen Charlotte Track.

We believe we know what makes a walk truly great! And our style of walking holiday has seen many people come as strangers and leave as friends over the years. We know it’s the little things that count and we are always trying to think up new ways to surprise and delight our customers.

We also know that sometimes walking holidays can be challenging to book. It can be a jigsaw puzzle. So, we’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for you with this dedicated Queen Charlotte Track bookings website.

Wilderness Guides Marlborough Sounds is owned by Marlborough Tour Company and operated with a team of office, operations and guiding staff who have a passion for this area and love sharing it with visitors to our region. From our base in Picton, centrally located in the heart of New Zealand, we are excited to share with you our extensive knowledge with you.

Our Mission

"To consistently exceed client expectations in the delivery of a quality outdoor experience with an emphasis on discerning product and service, education and environmental sustainability".

The Wilderness Guides Experience

Wilderness Guides can introduce you to the Queen Charlotte Track in comfort. Guided and independent walk options offer quality hotel-style accommodation with own facilities, a la carte restaurant dining, fine wines and the necessity to only carry a small daypack. This is New Zealand walking at its most comfortable and civilized!

All our guided walks have at least one guide (we work on a 1:12 guide to guest ratio) to offer knowledge of the area and the flora and fauna as well as ensure your safety. All guides are qualified in first aid and carry an extensive first aid kit and phones/radios for emergency communications. We are audited and approved under the Adventure Regulations Act and hold Qualmark and Outdoors Mark.

Our Commitment to You

Wilderness Guides undertakes to provide you with excellent customer service and to go that extra mile to ensure your comfort, safety and enjoyment.

Our Commitment to the Environment

We’re environmentally aware – it’s just part of what we do each day and by joining our trips, you are contributing towards the local conservation causes and projects we support each year. These include the Kaipupu Point Mainland Island, supporting aspiring young New Zealanders in sport, providing discounted or free outdoor activities for local school students and many other worthy causes. We find it hard to say no!
